Josh Burton Memorial Win Highlights Busy Week for Robert Ballou

PETERSEN MEDIA: An extremely busy week of racing in Indiana for Robert Ballou was highlighted by a win at Bloomington Speedway on Friday night during the Josh Burton Memorial.

“We had a really good car all four nights, and to win a race that honors a great family is pretty cool,” Robert Ballou said. “I personally haven’t won at Bloomington since 2007 when I first moved to Indiana, so it was great to get back to victory lane there as well.”

Racing his way to a heat race win, Ballou moved into the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the fifth position. In a torrid battle, Ballou would work his way up into second as he set his sights on Kyle Cummins.

Able to get by Cummins, Ballou would set sail out front. In a race that only saw one stoppage, Ballou was able to keep the field at bay and claim his 15th career MSCS win.

In other racing action during the week, Wednesday night’s Tony Hulman Classic at THAT, Ballou would do a great job of winning his heat race as he would then take the green flag from the seventh starting position for the feature event.

On a track that has treated him well over the last few years, Ballou would get going in the right direction as he spent much of the race in the fifth position. Late in the action, Ballou would sneak into fourth where he would finish.

Spending Saturday and Sunday with the MSCS, Ballou would find himself in a great battle with Kevin Thomas, Jr at Lincoln Park Speedway, but a stalled car left the leaders with nowhere to go, and Ballou would ultimately get caught up in the action and damage would end his night.

Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN, Ballou would find himself in harms way on the start of the feature event as he would spin to a stop on the race’s opening lap and endure some contact.

Forced into the work area, Ballou’s team would make repairs and the Rocklin, CA driver would restart from the 21st starting position. On the very well prepared Tri-State Speedway, Ballou put on a show as he carved his way forward on the Indiana bullring. Working his way forward as fast as he could, Ballou would cap the night off with a great run from 21st to finish sixth.

“As a team we are really getting this car to our liking, and as a driver I feel like I get more comfortable each night out,” Ballou said. “Thanks to all of the great people that make this all possible.”
